The Conservation Trust of Swaziland
Stop Press: November 2005: It has been decided by the Trustees that the Conservation Trust of Swaziland that the Trust will be wound up with immediate effect. The Trust's remaining funds have been allocated to two worthy projects and these funds will be administered through the auspices of the Natural History Society of Swaziland.
What was the Trust & what did the Trust do?
The Conservation Trust of Swaziland was formed in December 1988, by a notarial trust deed. It was a non-governmental organization and its aims were to:
• Foster and aid financially the conservation, preservation and proper use in Swaziland of the environment, flora, fauna and antiquities
• Assist in the provision of training, education and research in these areas
While The Conservation Trust of Swaziland was operational it financed a number of conservation projects, including those below :
• E13,000 Approved re Rock Art Book to be published by John Masson and Bob Forrester
• E26,000 Approved re Wild Swaziland - A Field Guide to the common animals and plants of Swaziland
• E5,000 Spotted Hyaena Research Project: Mlawula, Mbuluzi and Hlane - Sipho Matsebula
• E2,000 Bird Guide Training Course for Shewula staff member
• E18,000 Publication of Birds of Malolotja by Richard Boycott and Vincent Parker
• E10,000 Swaziland Rock Art Research by John Masson and Bob Forrester
• E6,320 Publication of Book on Swazi Praise Names by Richard Patricks
• E850 Chromalaena Alien Plant Workshop
• E650 Malolotja National Park Community Outreach project
• E493 Attendance at Herpetological Symposium
• E3,153 Mlawula Game Reserve printing new Tourist Map
• E3,000 Mlawula Game Reserve Bird Hide
